Wadebridge Choral Society continues 40th Anniversary Celebrations with Vivaldi’s Gloria

Wadebridge Choral Society invites audiences to its penultimate 40th Anniversary celebratory concert on Saturday 14th November at 7.00pm at Wadebridge Town Hall. Under the direction of Nicholas Danks, with a Chamber Orchestra and guest soloists, the choir will perform two much-loved choral masterpieces: Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria and Anton Diabelli’s Missa Pastorale in F.

Vivaldi’s Gloria is one of the most joyful and enduring works in the choral repertoire. Bursting with memorable melodies and uplifting choruses, it has delighted audiences for nearly three centuries. From the exuberant opening movement to the radiant final chorus, the work showcases Vivaldi’s gift for combining dramatic energy with moments of profound beauty.

Complementing Vivaldi’s masterpiece is Diabelli’s Missa Pastorale in F, a charming and melodic setting of the Mass that reflects the warmth and simplicity of the Austrian pastoral tradition. Best known today as the composer who inspired Beethoven’s famous Diabelli Variations, Anton Diabelli was a highly respected composer in his own right, and his Missa Pastorale remains one of his most appealing and accessible choral works.

This special anniversary concert continues a year of celebration marking forty years since Wadebridge Choral Society was founded in 1986, bringing together singers, orchestras, and audiences through a shared love of choral music.
